For about two decades Vogue Wigs has offered a range of hairpieces that include costume wigs, hair extensions, accessories, and yes, your standard synthetic and human hair wigs. The company is based in California and offers customer support via toll-free number if you have any questions when buying your perfect wig.
3,000+ wigs - if they're in stock
At first glance, the selection at Vogue Wigs is extensive, with almost 3,000 wigs featured in their inventory. However, "inventory" is a key word here: when we went to sort the wigs from lowest price to highest, we found page after page of options that were marked as "out of stock" . Finally, on page five, we found some basic wigs for just $17; flipping it around to see the highest-priced wigs at Vogue, we spotted the Blake Lite Human Hair Wig by Jon Renau. Priced at $4,493.10, it was a little less expensive than what we found at rival wig stores.
Consider Wigscription if you buy regularly
And, if you use the code WESHIP, you can get free USPS Priority Shipping on orders over $50 here. But there's another option: you can pay $24.99 a year for Vogue Wigs' Wigscription program, and it'll get you free shipping on every order and free shipping on any returns or exchanges. We're not sure that's a great deal for most customers, but if you're a frequent buyer of wigs and you like what Vogue Wigs has to offer, give it a thought before you place your first order.
Filters make shopping easy
Vogue Wigs is pretty intuitive to shop. You can jump right to a particular category, like African American or Ultra Petite, go with a brand you know and love, or go by texture or length. Alternately, you can use the filters to sort out every wig in the inventory and only have to sift through the ones that match what you've pictured for your next hairpiece. FYI, Vogue Wigs has about 20 options for men and 10 for children, in addition to the thousands for women.
Helpful details and photos
When you've reached your results list, it's easy to see at a glance if each wig comes in multiple colors and how many shoppers have left reviews. There aren't a ton of wigs with customer ratings, though, and most of the styles that do have them only got feedback from a dozen reviewers or fewer. But, one of the most versatile wigs we spotted in the inventory here is the Bennett Lace Front Wig by Tony of Beverly, with 24 ratings and nearly 50 different color choices. Vogue Wigs does a good job of showing lots of different photo angles for each hairpiece, plus a short video displaying the wig on a mannequin and how it looks once it's been applied.
Retailer left customers hanging
Unfortunately, Vogue Wigs has taken a sharp dive in our rankings since our last evaluation, going from a first-place finish to a "below average" rating. Why? Recent customer complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau have gone unanswered, and almost all of them are from shoppers who were promised a refund and never got it. That's one thing if you're buying an inexpensive synthetic wig just for fun, but totally unacceptable when you've invested a thousand dollars or more in your new look. There are quite a few five-star reviews left for Vogue Wigs through the store's Google listing, so all is not totally lost here, but we just can't get past the company failing to respond in any way to the perfectly legitimate complaints registered with the BBB.
Nothing customer-friendly about the returns
We're also not thrilled with the return policy here. You'll only have 14 business days (roughly three calendar weeks) to return your wig, and you'll have a 15% restocking fee deducted from your refund if you don't opt for an exchange instead. Some wigs, including those by Bellami, Bosley, Henry Margu, and Louis Ferre, plus all costume wigs, are not eligible for a return. Clearance and sale items are also final sale with Vogue Wigs.
No longer a wig store we strongly recommend
Is Vogue Wigs the worst wig store in our review? No, but it's not our favorite anymore either. The inventory is decent once you get past the out-of-stock wigs, and the site is pretty easy to shop - but we can't give an enthusiastic recommendation to any retailer that doesn't respond to most (or preferably all) customer complaints. Vogue Wigs has been outpaced by some higher-ranked rivals, both in terms of selection and customer service, and you'd be wise to give those a look before buying your wig here.

Where Can You Buy the Best Wigs Online?
Wigs have been an integral part of human culture for centuries, serving a variety of purposes ranging from fashion to medical needs. In recent years, wigs have gained popularity and become more accessible to a broader audience.
Why are you shopping for a wig? Most people think of hair loss and other medical reasons for wearing one. You could be looking to regain some self-esteem after undergoing chemotherapy or discovering that you suffer from alopecia. You're not alone. Millions of people every year buy a wig exactly for this reason, and there's nothing wrong with wanting to look a certain way.

Wig Store FAQ
Wigs might be purchased as an alternative way to easily style your hair, to cover up baldness or hair loss, or even to use for a costume. While most wigs are purchased by and for women, there are options for men and children as well.
Medical wigs don't differ much from normal human-hair wigs. They are meant for people experiencing hair loss from alopecia, chemotherapy, or other illness. They often include a cap and base that are specifically made for a sensitive scalp.
Wigs are made of either synthetic material or human hair. Synthetic wigs are made of plastic or acrylic fibers that look like hair. Human hair wigs are made from literal human hair, usually sold or donated by women in other countries who either need a way to make some extra income or who have shaved it off as part of a religious ceremony.
It is best to measure the circumference of your head so you can accurately use size guides that different retailers provide. Some come with sizing as general as "adult man" , "youth girl" , etc. so these types of wigs will usually have some type of adjustable feature to make sure it fits snugly on your head.
Most wigs have an adjustable velcro strap that allows you to comfortably place your wig to fit your head size and shape. Others come attached to a cap that fits tightly on your head. Most wig retailers also sell adhesive bands or clips that can be used to keep your wig in place.
You can expect to pay anywhere from $20 - $2,000 for a wig. The biggest factor in pricing is whether your wig is made of synthetic or human hair. Synthetic wigs look less natural and cost much less to make, therefore making them cheaper. Human hair wigs are usually at least a few hundred dollars and make it harder to tell whether you're wearing a wig or your natural hair.
If you have a synthetic wig, you'll need to purchase wig shampoo and conditioner. Mix the wig shampoo with cool water and dip the wig up and down in the mixture. Carefully rinse the wig in cool water and repeat the process with the wig conditioner. Rinse again and then pat dry and hang the wig loosely to dry at room temperature. With a human hair wig, you can apply a small amount of mild, high-quality shampoo to the hair (avoiding the scalp area) and carefully comb it in a downwards motion. Avoid scrubbing, twisting, or massaging the shampoo into the wig. For drying, first pat the wig with a towel to soak up as much of the water as possible, and then hang dry the wig on a wig stand or with a blow dryer on your head if you are in a hurry.
Most wig retailers have a return policy that allows customers to send back their product if they are unsatisfied. Oftentimes these returns come with a restocking fee, so be sure to read the return details for a wig from whatever company you choose to buy from.
Continued from above...
Then again, you could wear a wig for cultural or religious reasons. This can make your wig-shopping even more detailed, as you look for styles that meet your faith's requirements or that allow you to blend in with others in your culture.
But, today's wig shoppers are often looking for something entirely different: fashion and convenience. Is there any quicker way to change your overall vibe than to have a completely different hairstyle (and color)? Especially if maintaining your natural hair is time-consuming and expensive, wearing a wig (or having a collection of several) can get you out the door more quickly for work, switch your look from "day at the office" to "night on the town" , and save you the time you might normally spend on your hairstyle.
No wig stores near you? No problem. There are many online wig shops that give you access to the latest styles and traditional favorites from the privacy and convenience of your own home, whenever you feel like shopping. But which ones can you trust to deliver a high-quality wig that's going to fit right the first time and last for many years?
Here are some ways you can sort through various wig retailers and choose a winner:
- Variety. Look for a store that offers a wide range of wig styles, lengths, and colors to suit different preferences and needs.
- Tools. If you're a first-time wig shopper, you might need a little extra help to get the right fit. Look for a wig store that doesn't expect you to already know everything and offers some help like measurement or fit guides.
- Return and Exchange Policies. Consider stores that have clear and fair return or exchange policies in case the purchased wig doesn't meet your expectations.
- Reviews. Look for what other customers have had to say, about the wigs themselves and about the store as a whole. The more feedback there is to consider, the easier it is to find a high-quality wig (from a top-notch retailer).
Buying a wig can be a significant financial commitment, so the experts at Top Consumer Reviews have done the work to identify the best - and the worst - options among today's most popular wig stores. Focus on the highest-ranked stores as you shop, and your new wig will be on its way and making you look fantastic in no time!
