I'm a match to Conrad Fisher from The Summer I Turned Pretty (2024)
Grew Up… in New York with his two parents, Susannah and Adam, and a younger brother, Jeremiah. Their summers were spent together at their beach house in Cousins Beach, North Carolina, along with the Conklin family that always joined them. Laurel Conklin and Susannah are best friends, and they wanted their kids to be too.
Profession… soon to be college student. Conrad just graduated from high school with great grades. Although he could have received a football scholarship to Brown, he has decided to quit football altogether. This summer, he’s getting paid to give sailing advice to a writer, Cleveland Castillo.
Interests… smoking weed by the pool late at night and staring wistfully into the ocean. Although many people like Conrad and want to be around him, he tends to be a loner.
Relationship Status… involved with Nicole, who he had taken to the debutante ball last summer. Though Conrad is trying to come to terms with his feelings for someone else: Isabelle Conklin who goes by Belly. Belly and her parents have vacationed with his family every summer, and she’s always seemed like a sister to him. But this summer, he can’t take his eyes off her. As Conrad says, “I mean, we grew up together, so I’ve always thought of her as this little kid, but now, she’s not.”
Challenge… dealing with a secret. Conrad has found out something about his family that shakes him to his core. He hasn’t been the same since finding it out and doesn’t feel like doing much this summer. As the oldest son, he wants to try to keep things together, but there’s so much out of his control.
Personality… angsty, secretive, and caring. Conrad doesn’t open up easily, and he becomes defensive when this is pointed out. When Conrad is sweet to someone, he is enchantingly so. Just as the people he cares about are convinced that he has distanced himself in an irreparable way, he finds them again.
In the final book, "We'll Always Have Summer," Belly and Jeremiah become a serious couple and even go to the same college. When Belly discovers he hooked up with someone else while they were on a break, she breaks up with him. He begs her to take him back and proposes, to which she agrees, much to her family's chagrin.
In the second episode, it's revealed that Belly loses her virginity to Conrad by the fireplace in the house at Cousins Beach after the snow at the beach scene. “I felt like that's where Belly was in her journey,” Han tells Variety. “These two characters were very much in love and had known each other their whole lives.
She and Jeremiah, in the end, call off their engagement and break up for good after realizing they are not meant to be. In the epilogue, Belly has not heard from Conrad for two years, before receiving her handwritten letters from him "each and every month" throughout the rest of her college years.
With Belly realising that she just can't trust Conrad, she decides that Jeremiah is the one for her. Later, she kisses Jeremiah, showing him that he's the one she wants to be with and the series ends with Belly and Jeremiah together.
Belly admits, to his shock, that a part of her heart will always love Conrad. However, she insists to Jeremiah that she loves him more. Jeremiah tells her that it simply isn't good enough for him. The two don't go through with the wedding and break up, but remain good friends and still care about one another.
I think Jeremiah and Belly have the same maturity level, and Conrad needs someone in the same year of college as him. Conrad is the obvious choice for Belly. He has the emotional maturity that Jeremiah lacks. Conrad recognized that he couldn't be his best self for Belly because of his overpowering grief.
So, who does Steven end up with in Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty? None other than Belly's best friend, Taylor Jewel. The second season builds Steven and Taylor's relationship from frenemies to lovers.
