Dragoon - Dragon Sight - Macro
Hello,
I have been playing around with Dragoon a bit, and am wondering what macro's, if any, you all use for Dragon Sight. I myself use a macro that targets the nearest party member, but this works sub-optimally at best since (a) sometimes the closest party member is a healer or so, or (b) the macro often does not work.
Any ideas for a good macro for Dragoon Sight?

You could try one that targets #6 in the party, which is usually the other melee dps if there is one, or target your focus target.

You can order your party list so that dps are listed first, and you can go further and make so melee are on top of the list. I think the option to edit party settings are on the Character Menu somewhere.
Then you can make a macro that looks like
/ac "Dragon Sight" <2>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <2>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <3>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <3>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <4>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <5>
... etc.See AlsoDragoon DPS Rotation, Openers, and Abilities - Endwalker 6.55Dragoon Job Guide for FFXIV - Endwalker 6.55Job Guide: Dragoon | FINAL FANTASY XIVI repeat <2> and <3> a few times in hopes to decrease the chances of the macro whiffing and landing on a ranged.
Leave <7> and <8> our of the macro, and make sure healers are listed on the bottom of the party list so you don't accidently use the skill on them.
When using this on a 4 man dungeon, hopefully the macro prioritise the other dps/tank, but as always macros are kinda bad to use by design.
The best option in a perfect world would be to not use a macro at all but this skill is just too troublesome to use properly.

Thanks for that suggestion, based on that, I believe a macro would look like this (assuming dps are first in the list, followed by tanks, followed by healers):
/micon "Dragon sight"
/ac "Dragon Sight" <2>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <2>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <3>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <3>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <4>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <5>
/ac "Dragon Sight" <6>
/wait 2
/p <se.7> I'm using Dragon Sight on you, <2>. \o/ Do not stray too far for extra damage \o/ !07-27-2017, 12:23 AM

Me personally I'd go with something like : "I've got Eye of the Dragon better stay in my sight!Quote:

IMO you can skip the announcement, people now know what the red tether is and no longer run from it, it is very easy to spot.

That's right.
It works most of the time for me but sadly sometimes it still puts the buff on a ranged instead of a melee.
You can also make a party sort macro (/psort) or just throw the command on the Dragon Sight macro.

Rhyn
/micon "Dragon Sight"
/tpc
/ac "Dragon Sight" <t>
/tleThat will dragon sight the closest partymember and reselect your last enemy target. It is instant, you can doubleweave it. I have an identical one for goad and bind them both to mouse 4/5, then apply them via my own positioning instead of reorganizing the party list etc. Add more /ac lines if needed.

Are you testing these macros on your chocobo? The chocobo doesn't count as a party member and has their own target tag, <c>, so the macros above will fail if you're not in an actual party.Quote:

I like
Priorities:Code:
/ac (Dragon Sight) <mo>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <t>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <6>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <7>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <8>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <5>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <4>
/ac (Dragon Sight) <c>
/micon (Dragon Sight)- mouseover - rest mouse over other DD in party list before activating
- target - usually gets skipped because I prefer to keep the boss targeted at all times
- 6, 7, 8 - in a 2/2/4 party, the other DDs, beginning with melee DDs
- 5 - in a 1/2/5 party, the first DD in the list. Unfortunately, this has to be prioritized after 6,7,8 because prioritizing it before 6 will make you target a healer in a 2/2/4 party.
- 4 - the other DD in a 1/1/2 party
- companion
Note I use autotranslate phrases for action names so I don't have to worry about punctuation or spelling, and this macro assumes the default self-tank-healer-DD sorting which orders the DD jobs by fighter-ranger-caster.
