Warning: The following article contains spoilers from The Summer I Turned Pretty books. The Amazon Prime television series The Summer I Turned Pretty is based on the book trilogy of the same name by Jenny Han, and the final book in the series reveals who Belly Conklin chooses between Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher. The three of them, along with Belly's brother Steven Conklin, spend their summers together in Cousins Beach throughout their childhoods. Their mothers — Susannah Fisher and Laurel Park — are best friends, so their families have always been very close.
Belly develops a crush on Conrad when they are young, while Conrad often resists his feelings for her, and Jeremiah admires Belly from afar. In The Summer I Turned Pretty season 1, which Amazon adapted from the first book, Belly is torn between Conrad and Jeremiah but ultimately chooses to be with Conrad after they dance together at the debutante ball in the finale. However, there are still a lot of stories left to be told on the small screen since two books remain in the series. But if fans of the television show don't want to wait to learn who Belly picks, they can read on for spoilers from the third novel, We'll Always Have Summer.
Belly Chooses Conrad In The Summer I Turned Pretty Books
Although The Summer I Turned Pretty ends with Conrad and Belly together, It's Not Summer Without You, the second book, discloses that they break up shortly after they start dating. Susannah's health keeps declining, and Conrad isn't able to show up in a romantic relationship with Belly like he is supposed to. They break up after prom, and Susannah dies not too long afterward. The following summer is painful for everyone involved, but Belly and Jeremiah grow closer when they team up to find Conrad after he goes missing. At the end of the second book, Belly and Jeremiah begin dating.
We'll Always Have Summer picks up a couple of years after the events of the second novel, with Belly finishing her first year at college and thriving in her relationship with Jeremiah (who is also attending the same university). They go through a bit of a rough patch when Belly finds out that Jeremiah slept with someone else while they were on a break. But they seemingly make up when Jeremiah proposes to Belly, and she says yes.
However, at the end of the book, Jeremiah calls off their wedding because Belly is still in love with Conrad. They agree that they just aren't meant to be together, and that's okay. A few years later, Belly and Conrad marry, and Jeremiah brings a date to the wedding. So ultimately, Belly and Conrad end up together in The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy.
Why Belly Ends Up With Conrad Instead Of Jeremiah In The Books
Belly and Conrad's relationship in The Summer I Turned Pretty books is the definition of "right person, wrong time." As a teenager, Conrad can't be open and honest about his feelings for Belly due to the grief of losing his mother. As a result, Belly can act on her lingering feelings for Jeremiah, which is what leads to their two-year relationship and almost wedding. But Belly is never able to give her full heart to Jeremiah because a piece of her will always love Conrad.
Even though Belly and Jeremiah really do love one another, their feelings aren't enough to warrant a marriage. Jeremiah can't accept the fact that, deep down, Belly will always love his brother, so he calls off their wedding, and Belly doesn't stop him. At the end of the day, it makes sense why Belly and Conrad end up together. They have a rich history, and it was always tough to imagine Belly with anyone else, given the depth of her feelings for the older Fisher brother. Belly and Conrad are meant to be together in The Summer I Turned Pretty books.

Will The Summer I Turned Pretty Series Keep Belly's Book Ending?
Now, the only question that remains is whether Amazon Prime's The Summer I Turned Pretty will stick to the ending of the book series. In season 1, the television series diverted a bit from the book material by introducing new characters and conflicts, but it remained true to the first novel's ending. Belly and Conrad finally kissed during the finale, and viewers assumed it was the start of their relationship. However, Jenny Han, who serves as an executive producer on the show, hasn't revealed if the series will follow the third book's conclusion.
Despite the ambiguity of the people involved with the show, Belly will likely still end up with Conrad in the Amazon Prime series. The first season primarily focused on their relationship, and they are the only couple to get the Taylor Swift treatment. While Belly and Conrad will undoubtedly go through many hardships as The Summer I Turned Pretty continues, and Belly and Jeremiah will have their fair share of moments, it stands to reason that the television series will end with Belly and Conrad together.
