Here's how old the characters are meant to be in The Summer I Turned Pretty and how old the actors who play them are.
The Summer I Turned Pretty is from the same author who wrote To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han, so of course the TV show adaption on Prime Video has taken over our lives – and fans are currently working their way through season two.
The premise is a romantic one: A young girl named Belly and her mum stay at a beach house every summer and stay with her mum’s best friend and her sons. Belly’s forever had a crush on one of the boys and is best friends with his brother.
It’s a story about first love, first heartbreak and all the magic that comes with a summer romance, and season two explores those many cliffhangers that we left during the last episode of season one.
Conrad, played by Christopher Briney, and Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno, are caught in a love triangle with Belly, and the show tells the story of how their individual bonds are changed as each of the teenagers grapple with their feelings.

Belly is played by Lola Tung and is the star of the series. Her character is just a few years younger than her, which tends to be the case with YA romances.
But how old are the characters in The Summer I Turned Pretty meant to be, and how old is the cast?
Isabela aka ‘Belly’, played by Lola Tung
Character age: 16.
Lola is 20 years old in real life, but on screen she plays 16-year-old Belly, who actually turns 16 during her vacation in series one.
In reality, Lola is studying at Carnegie Mellon university and is currently in her third year.
Steven Conklin, played by Sean Kaufman
Character age: 18.
Belly’s brother Steven is 18 years old, as he’s heading off to college in series two of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
In reality, the actor who plays him, Sean, is 23. He graduated from acting college in 2022.
Jeremiah, played by Gavin Casalegno
Character age: 16.
Gavin, 23, plays 16-year-old Jeremiah in The Summer I Turned Pretty, who’s also Belly’s best friend.
Conrad Fisher, played by Christopher Briney
Character age: 18.
Conrad plays Jeremiah’s brother, who Belly has a crush on. Christopher is 25 years old in real life.
On the show, his character is in his first year of university in season two.
Laurel Conklin, played by Jackie Chung
Character age: 40-something.
In real life, Jackie is 44 years old. She recently had to confirm her real age after a Google error listed her as 62.
She confirmed on Instagram: "I AM NOT 62!"
In The Summer I Turned Pretty, it's thought she plays someone of a similar age to her real age. Her best friend on the show, Susannah, is a similar age.
Laurel plays Belly and Steven’s mum.
Susannah ‘Beck’ Fisher, played by Rachel Blanchard
Character age: Unknown.
Actress Rachel is 47, most likely the same age as her character Susannah. She plays Jeremiah and Conrad’s mum.
Cam, played by David Iacono
Character age: 16.
Away from the show, David is 21. He plays 16-year-old Cam who is Belly’s first boyfriend she met on a Latin summer program.
Taylor Jewel, played by Rain Spencer
Character age: 16.
Rain is a few years older than her character in The Summer I Turned Pretty, playing 16-year-old Taylor who is Belly’s BFF.
Rain is 24 years old - a similar age to her cast mates.
Skye, played by Elsie Fisher
Character age: Unknown
Jeremiah and Conrad's cousin, Skye, makes friends with the gang at Cousins Beach in The Summer I Turned Pretty series 2.
Elsie is 20 years old in real life but it's thought they play someone around the same age as Belly, Jeremiah and the others as Jeremiah refers to having known Skye since they were small.
Julia, played by Kyra Sedgwick
Character age: 50s
Kyra plays Julia, Susannah's half sister, who is left with the beach house after Susannah's death.
Jeremiah and Conrad don't get off to a good start with their aunt after reuniting with her as she tries to sell the property.
Kyra is 57 years old.
Shayla, played by Minnie Mills
Character age: 16.
Minnie is 16 just like Belly. She plays Steven’s girlfriend and is a debutante alongside Belly.
In reality, Minnie is in her third year of college, making her 21 years old.
Nicole, played by Summer Madison
Character age: Late teens.
Nicole plays a debutante sister and mentor to Belly, so we reckon she’s a few years older than her.
Meanwhile, Summer is thought to be 24 years old.
