Snap the candy canes into small pieces, about 2cm in length. Tip into a large jug or jar and pour over the vodka so they're covered. Cover and chill for at least 3-5 hrs, or until the sweets have dissolved (there may be a little bit of candy cane left, but most should have dissolved).
Pour two ounces of vodka into a clean Bernadin jar. Add one teaspoon of peppermint extract to 20 oz vodka. If you add more vodka make sure you increase the peppermint extract. If you're adding red food colouring this is the time to do it.
Choose 80-proof or 100-proof vodka to make fruit-flavored vodkas. Use two cups chopped fruit + two to three cups vodka, and infused for three to five days. Make sure the vodka covers the fruit to prevent it from spoiling during infusion.
Transform a bottle of vodka into a candy-flavored drink for the over 21 crowd. Give away as party gifts—bottles can be refrigerated for up to 6 months.
Once opened, flavored vodka's shelf life can be a bit shorter than that of regular vodka, particularly if it contains sugar or perishable flavorings. While it still won't spoil in the way perishable food items do, the flavors may start to fade or alter after a few months.
An unopened bottle of unflavored vodka has a shelf-life of decades. After opening, it will still be good for 10 to 20 years. For flavored vodkas, the shelf-life spans from six months to 2 years.
It tastes just like a thin mint (which makes it very dangerous). I've never tasted it by itself or in any other drinks, but I recommend buying it just to mix with chocolate syrup during the holidays. YUMMY and great for the holidays. You can spike so many drinks with this.
Infused spirits are best enjoyed within three months, but they will never go bad. See our co*cktail recipes for ideas on how to use your infused alcohol.
Generally, it is best to use 1 cup of fruits or vegetables for every 3 cups of vodka. However, for whole herbs and spices, it would be best to adhere to a ratio of 2-to-3. (For example, for every 2 sprigs of rosemary or 2 sticks of cinnamon, use 3 cups of vodka.)
Store the Pineapple infused vodka in the refrigerator for 2 weeks. The vodka won't spoil, however, pineapples are perishable and after 2 weeks the pineapple flavor will not taste as fresh.
Like most hard sweets, candy canes call for a few basic ingredients: sugar, water, corn syrup, along with some peppermint extract for flavor and food coloring. The challenge lies in boiling the sugar, then pulling the candy until it's stiff but pliable, and finally, forming it into the right shapes.
A candy cane is a cane-shaped stick candy often associated with Christmastide, as well as Saint Nicholas Day. It is traditionally white with red stripes and flavored with peppermint, but the canes also come in a variety of other flavors and colors.
Pour the vodka on top of the candy canes. Allow the vodka and candy canes a few hours to steep. The candy canes will dissolve in the vodka, and then it'll be good to drink after you shake it up!
Pour candy into a glass container with a lid, such as a mason jar. Pour vodka on top of candy, at least covering it and usually to fill three-quarters of the container. Seal container and let sit for some amount of time — usually at least 24 hours and up to a week.
Place candies in a container with a lid and add vodka. Seal the container and place in a cool, dark place, shaking vigorously 1 to 2 times per hour, until candy has dissolved, 3 to 4 hours.
The sugar is made of a polar molecule, just like water, so the sugar and water interact. This causes the sugar and food color to dissolve, or melt, into the water. The alcohol is less polar than water, so it dissolves some of the candy coating, but more slowly and not as well.
