Ghana's cocoa sector is facing challenges, but there's a beacon of hope! Dr. Ransford A. Abbey, the Chief Executive of COCOBOD, recently visited the Seed Production Division (SPD) and Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED) in the Breman District. He reassured staff that the management is fully committed to a sustainable and prosperous future for Ghana's cocoa industry.
During his visit, Dr. Abbey acknowledged the current financial hurdles. But here's the good news: he also confirmed that strategic plans are underway to stabilize the situation and improve the welfare of the staff.
He emphasized the importance of teamwork and cost-effectiveness, urging all employees across COCOBOD's subsidiaries and divisions to actively contribute to the company's goals. And this is the part most people miss: collective effort is key to success!
Dr. Abbey also addressed a critical issue: fertilizer smuggling. He strongly warned against such practices, explaining that they hinder productivity and delay financial recovery. He encouraged staff to ensure responsible use of inputs to support national cocoa production targets.
Accompanied by senior management and Hon. Alhassan Kobina Ghansah, Member of Parliament for Breman Asikuma and a COCOBOD Board of Directors member, Dr. Abbey motivated the staff to maintain their dedication to building a resilient and sustainable cocoa industry.
