CRISPY CARAMEL RICE SQUARES - I've had major success with your recipes - THANK YOU! This one gave me trouble tonight. It turned out too wet. What's the secret? I wonder if 1&3/4 full-fat coconut milk was too much liquid? I let simmer 20 mins.
    Any suggestions?

Hi Cass, sorry that happened! It's difficult to know without being in the kitchen with you. If your stove is cooler than mine you may need to simmer it longer until the right colour and texture is achieved. Also, different coconut milks may contain more water so you may need to simmer those longer. Hope that helps a little!

FAQs

What candy is 100% vegan? ›

A little candy, as a treat, every now and then is fine. If you're limiting your sugar intake, look for the brands SmartSweets (vegan-friendly) or Zolli Candy (100 percent vegan).

What candies and chocolates are vegan? ›

Most dark chocolate is vegan, as are popular sweet treats such as Smarties (known as Rockets in Canada), Oreos, Airheads, Jujubes, and Swedish Fish (some Swedish Fish contain beeswax, so be sure to check the label).

What chocolate is surprisingly vegan? ›

Lindt Excellence 70% Dark Chocolate

Lindt Excellence is pretty excellent chocolate (I always used to steal squares of it from the fridge when my mum wasn't looking) and it's pretty naturally vegan, too. The ingredients of these bars include cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, and vanilla.

Are Skittles 100% vegan? ›

Most types of Skittles are considered vegan, but not all. While Skittles Classic Fruits, Skittles Sour, Skittles Tropical and Wild Berry Skittles are all currently suitable for vegans, some special editions such as the Once in a Blue Moon Skittles are not, as the blue skittles contain animal product derivatives.

What is surprisingly not vegan? ›

Beer and Wine

Isinglass, a gelatin-based substance derived from fish, is used as a clarifying agent in some beer and wine. Other non-vegan ingredients sometimes used are casein (from milk) and egg whites.

Is Starburst vegan? ›

Starbursts were launched in the USA in 1967, and have since become hugely popular in the country. Unfortunately for American plant-based eaters, however, they feature gelatin in their ingredients. This means that they aren't suitable for vegans or vegetarians.

Are Tootsie rolls vegan? ›

No – tootsie rolls aren't vegan. They have milk in them, so they don't pass the vegan test. Though there are many companies that label their products as vegan, not all products do, so sometimes it can be tricky to tell whether something is vegan or not.

Are Hershey Kisses vegan? ›

This vegan chocolate kisses recipe is a dairy-free take on the classic candy that everyone can enjoy and tops the originals. Hershey Kiss chocolates bring back fond memories of childhood but, unfortunately, are not vegan.

Are Doritos vegan? ›

Since 1966, Doritos has satisfied customers' snack cravings with their flavored tortilla chips. But unfortunately for vegans, only one variety is vegan-friendly: Spicy Sweet Chili. The other Doritos flavors contain various dairy products and animal-derived flavors, none of which are vegan.

Are twizzlers vegan? ›

Good news for our Twizzlers lovers: Twizzlers do not contain gelatin! Twizzlers gelatin therefore isn't a concern for vegans. The only potentially non-vegan ingredient on this list is glycerin, a byproduct of soap manufacture that commonly uses animal fat.

Are Pringles vegan? ›

Pringles Original does not contain any ingredients made from milk and is suitable for those following a vegan diet or with milk allergies. Wheat flour is now also an ingredient across all Pringles varieties and, accordingly “wheat flour” is specified on the ingredient list.

What is 100% vegan? ›

What is a vegan product? A product is vegan if it does not contain any animal extracts or animal by-products in the product or manufacturing process. It also means that the product hasn't been tested on animals. To be sure, look for the Vegan Trademark.
